Panic! At the Disco CD Cover analysis

This is the album cover for Panic! At the Disco's Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die.

The background of this cover is fairly basic. For example, most of the cover is white and plain but from the cigarette smoke comes multiple different colours which are highlighted more due to the white background, this highlights the artist in the middle of the cover and shows they're the main focus as the colourful smoke is coming from his cigarette. The black and white colour gives this a very noir style and a classic look which looks great and sophisticated. The colourful part allows the audience to identify this album as something that is not just old fashioned but has a different tone as the colours make it stand out.

The camera angle used is a mid-shot used to show the artist and makes it easier for the audience to view the artist's outfit and straight stance. Also used is a focus pull to make the artist the main focus of the picture.

The artist is shown on the front cover wearing a stylish suit to show he is professional and powerful.

In this particular representation, men are perceived as powerful and good looking. As he is smoking it also suggests he doesn't care about what people think about him.

The text floats above the artists head and has a unique PATD style to it which further suggests how unique Brendon (the artist) really is. The style of the writing also links to the unique tone of the album as it is very different from their previous music, it is more toned as his voice has a toner to change the sound of his voice slightly, which gives it a more robotic tone. This helps reinforce a 60s aesthetic/ Americana style but with homage to some the The Smiths 1980s LP covers.
The title of album makes it seem strange and "weird" and highlights how the artist is "weird", the music video for Girls/Girls?Boys further proves this. The fact that a special edition of the vinyl comes in a splattered colour scheme linked to the smoke colouring is cool for hardcore fans.

Inside the vinyl, there is a picture of the lead singer driving an old car which goes with the noir style of this album:

Overall, the album is really cool and unique and I hope to create something equally amazing.
