1) One theory would the fact that we
are entering a time of technological convergence and audiences feel empowered
by these new technologies and are demanding the right to do what they want with
it. People are seeking the right to do what they want and not be ruled by the
big media and their political agendas.
2) Because we live in a democracy,
it is difficult to tell who owns the news and whose opinion it is. However, in
places like North Korea, we know that the government owns the media, so the
opinions shared on the news, are those of Kim Jong-un.
3) A new ideology has risen, people
now believe old hierarchies of power can be replaced by anyone or anything,
this means that people of power are no longer needed.
In the mass democracies of the West a new ideology has risen up. We
have come to believe that the old hierarchies of power can be replaced by
self-organising networks (Curtis, BBC2, 30.5.11)
